Teacher Counselors
The Teacher Counselor (TC) prepares your child and chaperones them from the beginning to the end of the program.
TCs hold regular orientation meetings, usually via the web, in the months leading up to departure to prepare the students and introduce them to one another.
The TC accompanies on their international flights, and stays with them throughout the program. TCs meet regularly with students to monitor progress, provide guidance and encourage them to step outside their comfort zones and challenge themselves. When the need arises, TCs know how to deal with issues such as discipline, homesickness, and rooming. Meet a TC
Code of Conduct
Students and their parents are required to sign a Code of Conduct, which includes a zero-tolerance policy on alcohol and non-prescription drugs. The TC reviews the code thoroughly with each student and with the group together. Review the Code of Conduct
Program Director
American Leadership’s Program Directors have experience working with high school students, and are carefully selected and thoroughly trained, and undergo comprehensive background checks.
A Program Director typically leads a program of 30 students and two Teacher Counselors. The Program Director takes care of all operational details and is in regular contact with American Leadership’s Regional Operations Managers and US-based personnel as necessary.
The Program Director also facilitates group activities, challenges, debates, and a host of other activities, both educational and recreational. Meet a Program Director
Family Support
American Leadership maintains a 24/7 emergency system and is in regular contact with our personnel via our worldwide network. Each TC has an international cell phone for emergency use, and parents and students will have the number.
Cancellation and Travel Insurance
All students are covered by a travel insurance policy that includes the services of Europ Assist, a worldwide organization that provides medical referral and monitoring, translation, evacuation and repatriation as well as other services. Cancellation Protection Plus is also available and is strongly recommended to protect against cancellation fees. Included in the Cancellation Protection Plus coverage is Job Loss Protection, which provides for canceling as a result of a covered job loss right up to the program departure date. Crisis Management
American Leadership has a crisis management plan in place and retains the services of a professional crisis management company to assist us, should the need arise.
